The West End 8
The West End 8 is an officially measured one lap road race of 8 miles, held as part of the Leicestershire Road Running League. The event uses chip timing and has a minimum age of 16. The venue is Syston Rugby Club, Barkby Road, Queniborough, Leicestershire LE7 3FE.
Entries are tiered: a reduced fee for club runners and a standard fee for unattached runners. For the first week entries are reserved for LRRL club runners; from 12 April 2026 remaining places will be opened to non LRRL club and unattached runners. The organiser states a total entry capacity of 750 places. Refunds and deferrals are not permitted but name changes are allowed before the published deadline.
Facilities at the venue include toilets and changing in the club house plus additional portaloos, number collection at registration, and bag storage for unattached runners. The club bar and a teas coffees and cake stall will be available. Two drinks stations are provided along the route and water will be available at the finish.
Practical notes for participants include limited parking with alternative parking arranged for those who need to leave early, no parking on Barkby Road or Queniborough Road Main Street, and that the race will take place almost entirely on closed roads. Dogs are not permitted on the club grounds. Headphones including bone conduction types are strictly prohibited and enforcement may result in disqualification. Race permit ARC/26/0482.
