About the race
The Wauhatchie Trail Race is a 6.7 mile trail event held in Chattanooga, Tennessee, organized by the Chattanooga Track Club. The course is based at Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center (400 Garden Rd) on the lower slopes of Lookout Mountain. The route covers hilly gravel and dirt roads and rough double-track trails. The elevation difference from the start/finish area to the highest point on course is 410 feet.
Runners will encounter steep ascents and descents and trail surfaces that include leaves, rocks, and fallen tree limbs. This edition is the 41st running of the event and the first to appear on UltraSignup. The race uses an age and sex handicap system for starts; males in the 20-24 and 25-29 age groups are treated as the baseline group and other groups receive head starts of varying durations. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers and to the top three masters in male and female categories. Entry is offered through UltraSignup with an entry fee of USD 33.50.
Registration closes on February 4. Access to the venue is via Interstate 24 to exit 175, then Brown's Ferry Road, Cummings Highway, Old Wauhatchie Road, and Garden Road following event signage to the Chattanooga Nature Center / Reflection Riding.
