The Wauhatchie Trail Race
The Wauhatchie Trail Race is an annual running event held in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Organized by the Chattanooga Track Club, the race takes place at the Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center, located approximately 10 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. The venue encompasses over 317 acres of land on the lower slopes of Lookout Mountain.

The course consists of hilly terrain featuring gravel and dirt roads, along with rough double-track trails. Participants navigate a landscape that includes steep ascents and descents. The trails are typically covered with natural elements such as leaves, rocks, and fallen tree limbs. From the lowest point at the start and finish to the highest point on the course, there is a total elevation change of 410 feet.
A specific feature of this event is its age and sex handicap system. Participants receive different head start times based on their age group and gender. The groups designated as the fastest-males aged 20 to 29-start at the zero mark, while all other categories begin earlier according to a predetermined schedule.
