The Viking Dash 5k
The Viking Dash 5k is the third annual 5K run and walk held in Ripley, West Virginia. The event uses local streets and school facilities and directs its proceeds to the Ripley High School Track and Field teams.
The course begins in the back parking lot of Ripley High School, runs behind Ripley City Park, loops through nearby avenues, and finishes on the school track. Organizers describe the course as what some runners may call fast.
Awards are given to 1st place overall male and female and to the top two males and females in each age category. There are no duplicate awards and awards are presented shortly after the race ends. Age categories listed by the organizer are 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 51-59, and 60 plus.
Registration is listed at $30 for both pre-registration and race day registration. A race day t-shirt is guaranteed for participants who register by March 4. Online registration is encouraged and the organizer notes that race day registration will be available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
