The View Trail Race
This is the sixth year of The View Trail Race. It allows runners to experience parts of the Hyner Challenge trail course during the fall season. The event offers two distances: a 25K and a 15K.
The modified 25K course bypasses Johnson Run but still includes trails The View, Post Draft, SOB, and Huff Run. It covers approximately 15 miles with about 3000 feet of elevation gain. Organizers describe it as slightly easier and a little shorter than the standard Hyner 25K course.
The 15K option follows the 25K route to The View. At mile 5.5, the course splits, and runners return via the Huff Run Trail. This option is intended for participants not seeking the full 25K distance but who still want to reach the viewpoint.
The race starts and finishes at 161 Sportsman's Lane in North Bend, Pennsylvania. Registration is open to the first 500 runners. Organizers emphasize that the event is for serious runners and hikers only, as daylight hours are limited in November. A finish time within 6.5 hours is expected.
