The Verrazano 10K and 5K Races

The Verrazano takes place at the American Veterans Memorial Pier in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. The event offers runners a course along the New York Bay historic riverfront, featuring views of the New York City skyline and the Verrazano Bridge. The path is situated within a public park that includes separate lanes for pedestrians and cyclists.

Participants can choose from the following distances:

  • 5K (one loop)
  • 10K (two loops)

The course is well-marked with mile markers and includes water stations providing sealed water bottles and power gels. These stations are self-service to limit contact. Runners use a timing chip attached to their bibs, with timing mats recording splits for every loop. For auditory guidance, mile markers, and pace tracking, the use of the Race Joy app is supported, which requires carrying a mobile phone during the run.

Amenities provided at the event include finisher medals and technical t-shirts. Post-race refreshments include bagels. Personal items can be stored in a limited baggage check-in area where items are secured and managed by volunteers. Packet pick-up is available on-site and requires a picture identification. Due to the public nature of the course and the presence of bicycle lanes, the use of headphones is not permitted to ensure environmental awareness.

Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as winners in various age groups ranging from 19 and under to 70 and over. Results are uploaded live to a digital results page. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
