Event overview

The Unforeseen is a random-distance trail race organized by Kingfisher Ultras at Reedy Creek Nature Preserve in Charlotte, NC (2986 Rocky River Rd). The race distance is determined by a dice roll 15 seconds before the race starts and can range from 4.5 to 27 miles. Each lap on the course measures 2.25 miles.

Course and logistics

The loop course is a mix of flat gravel and single-track trails and is marked with yellow arrows at trail junctions. The start and finish are located near the pavilion behind the nature center. A pavilion aid station will provide snacks, jugs for water refills, trash cans, and basic first-aid support. A GPX file for the course is available.

Bibs are assigned by age, with the youngest runner receiving bib number 1 and subsequent numbers assigned by ascending age. The race prize for the winner is a Damascus steel knife from Arbor Novo. Refunds are issued at 100% within 90 days and 50% within 30 days; no refunds within 10 days. Volunteers receive an entry to a future race.
