The Unforeseen - Reedy Creek Nature Preserve, Charlotte, NC
The Unforeseen is a trail event presented by Kingfisher Ultras, scheduled for November 14, 2026, at Reedy Creek Nature Preserve in Charlotte, NC. The event uses a looped course and offers both a random-distance format and a timed option.
Distances and formats:
- Random distance determined by a dice roll, between 4.5 and 27 miles; laps are 2.25 miles.
- Six hour option to complete as many 2.25 mile laps as possible.
The course is a 2.25 mile loop composed of flat gravel and single track. The start and finish are located near the pavilion behind the nature center, and the route is marked with yellow arrows at each trail junction. The loop passes named trails and features such as Dragonfly Pond; it finishes back at the pavilion.
The pavilion behind the nature center serves as the aid station with snacks, refill jugs, trash cans, and first aid support. Participants who withdraw are asked to notify event staff so they can be accounted for. Race bibs must be clearly visible for lap counting.
Prizes and policies: the winner receives a Damascus steel knife provided by Arbor Novo. Refunds: 100% within 90 days, 50% within 30 days, none within 10 days. If the event is canceled there are no refunds but entrants are offered entry to a future race. Volunteers receive entry to a future race.
