The Unforeseen
The Unforeseen is a random-distance trail race held at Reedy Creek Nature Preserve in Charlotte, NC. The race distance is determined by a dice roll 15 seconds before the start and can range from 4.5 to 27 miles. Each lap is 2.25 miles.
The lap course combines flat gravel and single track. The route is marked with yellow arrows at each trail junction. The start and finish are located near the pavilion behind the nature center. A detailed route follows the pavilion, Umbrella Tree trail, south fork trail, Sierra trail, Sassafras trail by Dragonfly Pond, Dragonfly trail, and returns via Umbrella Tree trail.
The pavilion serves as the aid station and will provide snacks, refill jugs, trash cans, and first aid. Bibs must be clearly visible so runners can be accounted for each lap. If a runner withdraws, they should notify race staff.
Packet pickup is scheduled before the race. Registration closes on the day before the race. The winner will receive a Damascus steel knife as the event prize.
Refunds are returned 100 percent within 90 days, 50 percent within 30 days, and none within 10 days. If the race is canceled there are no refunds, but all entrants will be granted entry to another race. Volunteers receive an entry to a future race.
