About the race
The Trail Running Series Race 01 at Blackwood takes place in Lerderderg State Park, about 90 minutes from Melbourne. The course runs through the Lerderderg Gorge and features ancient river valleys, towering eucalypts and creek crossings set within a wilderness valley environment.
The race offers three distance options:
- 7.9 km
- 15.8 km
- 22 km
Course terrain includes forested trails, river valley tracks and creek crossings that require on‑trail navigation and variable footing. Race day features organised support, marked routes and race-day facilities typical of the series, such as refreshments and a finish-line atmosphere. The event is part of a winter series of trail races held across different Victorian wilderness locations.
The presentation emphasises a social atmosphere with live music, barista coffee and food trucks reported at series events, and a supportive community approach where the last finisher receives notable recognition.
