Format, logistics and requirements

The challenge is split into four daily stages, each run as a separate ultra race:

  • Day 1: 57 miles
  • Day 2: 49 miles
  • Day 3: 47 miles
  • Day 4: 33 miles

Accommodation and evening meals are included for the ends of Days 1 to 3, with competitors housed in specified hotels on a shared three-per-room basis; private rooms are available at additional cost and subject to availability. Ultra Running Ltd provides a cabin-sized kit-bag transfer into hotels and will stow bags in a support vehicle each morning. Evening main meals are paid by the organiser; starters, drinks and desserts are the competitor’s expense. Breakfast provisions include a porridge pot, fruit and juice; competitors should bring their own spoon.

Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, OS map or downloadable maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food (two chocolate bars) and a basic first aid kit. Competitors must be at least 20 years old on the start day and maintain an average of 4.0 miles per hour including stops or they will be withdrawn. Finishers receive four bespoke daily medals and a daily technical item (t-shirt, mug or hat). Entry fees are listed at £595 for solo and £425 for relay members.
