The TFG Castle & Cake Trail Races

The event takes place in Castleton, hosted from Castleton Village Hall. It uses fully waymarked trail courses with two distance options. Runners register for a small group waved start and select a 10 minute start window to spread participants on the trails and at viewpoints.

Course routes begin with an ascent through Cavedale to a start line below the ruins of Peveril Castle. The route climbs to a panoramic viewpoint over the Great Ridge and Mam Tor. Short course runners descend back to Castleton. Long course runners continue along the Great Ridge, briefly enter the Vale of Edale, reach Hope, then return along the valley floor to Castleton.

Distances and ascent

  • 6.5 km short course, 200 m ascent
  • 13.1 km long course, 300 m ascent

The event finish is at Castleton Village Hall where complimentary baked goods are provided by Peveril Stores & Bakery and participants receive a 10% discount on store purchases over £5. Trails For Good supports the Peak District Paths and Trails Appeal as a Silver Peak Partner. The event is held under UK Athletics rules and is licensed by the Trail Running Association.
