Event information

The TFG Castle & Cake Trail Races take place on Sunday 3 May 2026 at Castleton Village Hall (postal code S33 8WJ). The event is organised by Trails For Good and will be held under UK Athletics rules with a licence from the Trail Running Association. Entries open 21 November 2025 and close 1 May 2026. Participants must be 18 or older. Registration is handled through SiEntries and entrants select a 10-minute start window as part of a small-group waved start approach.

Courses and race details

The event uses fully waymarked trail courses. Distances and ascent are:

  • 6.5 km - approximately 200 m ascent
  • 13.1 km - approximately 300 m ascent

Runners register at the village hall and ascend Cavedale to the start line. The route climbs to the top with views of the Great Ridge and Mam Tor. The short course returns to Castleton by descent, while the long course continues across the ridge, briefly enters the Vale of Edale, reaches Hope and returns along the valley floor to Castleton. Long course runners must carry mandatory kit; short course runners must wear kit appropriate for terrain and conditions (full kit details are provided by the organiser). After finishing, participants receive complimentary items from Peveril Stores & Bakery and a 10% discount on store purchases over £5. Trails For Good contributes to the Peak District National Park Foundation Paths and Trails Appeal as a Silver Peak Partner. Entry fees vary by distance and affiliation status.
