The TFG Castle & Cake Trail Races
The event is a pair of waymarked trail races based at Castleton Village Hall in Castleton, Peak District. Two signed courses run through local features including Cavedale, the ruins of Peveril Castle, the Great Ridge and Mam Tor, with a short section into the Vale of Edale and a finish that returns to Castleton Village Hall.
Distances and ascent are:
- Short course: 6.5 km, 200 m ascent.
- Long course: 13.1 km, 300 m ascent.
Runners register at the village hall before heading up Cavedale to the start. The event uses a small group waved start approach to provide more space on trails and at viewpoints. Long course participants must carry mandatory kit. Short course runners must wear kit appropriate for the terrain and conditions.
Finishers are welcomed back at the event HQ where complimentary fresh food from Peveril Stores & Bakery is provided and purchases over £5 receive a 10 percent discount. Entry fees vary by distance and by affiliation with athletics bodies. Participants must be 18 or older. The event is held under UK Athletics rules and is licensed by the Trail Running Association.
Trails For Good is a Silver Peak Partner with the Peak District National Park Foundation and contributes to the Paths and Trails Appeal to support footpath repairs along the Great Ridge. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
