The TarDevil 30 Mile Bushwack
The TarDevil 30 Mile Bushwack is an annual point-to-point training run of approximately 30 miles held in Chapel Hill and Durham, North Carolina. The event is described as a fun run or fat-ass and is not affiliated with any organization. Participation is informal and entrants take part at their own risk.
The course runs between the University of North Carolina and Duke University. In even years the route goes from UNC to Duke, and in odd years it goes from Duke to UNC. Meeting locations include the Old Well at UNC Chapel Hill and Duke Chapel.
The route contains many sections that the organizer describes as challenging. The event notice warns of significant risks, which may include permanent injury, drowning, or other forms of death. All liability is assumed by participants.
The format is point-to-point and intended as a training run rather than a formally sanctioned race. Registration is managed through the event's registration process and the event appears on public calendars for the stated date. Entrants and observers should be aware of the informal nature of the event and the safety risks described by the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
