The Sunglasses Run 5K
The Sunglasses Run 5K takes place at Longview Lake Beach in Kansas City. This summer event features multiple participation options for different age groups and preferences. The primary course is a 5K route available for both runners and walkers.
The event includes the following distances and categories:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Kids Fun Run
- Virtual 5K
Participants in the 5K event receive a finisher's medal and a pair of Goodr brand sunglasses. During packet pickup, entrants select their preferred style from a variety of options on a first-come, first-served basis. There is an option to opt out of the sunglasses for a registration discount, and event shirts are available as an optional add-on.
Awards are presented to the fastest overall male and female finishers, as well as the fastest masters male and female participants. Age group awards are also provided for the top three male and female finishers in brackets ranging from 14 and under to 80 and over.
The event serves as a fundraiser for Zero Reasons Why, a community initiative focused on reducing teen suicide. Packet pickup is scheduled for the Saturday prior to the race at a designated location, with an additional pickup window available on race morning at the event site.
