The Sunglasses Run 5K
The Sunglasses Run 5K is a summer-themed event held at Longview Lake Beach in Kansas City. The event is designed for all participants and features multiple activities on a course that celebrates the summer season.
Available event distances include:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Kids Fun Run
- Virtual 5K
All participants in the 5K receive a finishers medal and a pair of Goodr brand sunglasses. Instead of choosing a style during registration, participants select their preferred pair from a broad variety at packet pickup. This selection is handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants who do not wish to receive sunglasses may choose to opt out for a reduced registration fee. Optional event shirts are also available for an additional cost.
Awards are presented to the fastest male and female finishers, as well as the fastest masters male and female finishers. Recognition is also provided for the top three male and female finishers across a wide range of age groups, starting from 14 and under up to aged 80 and over. The event supports a charity partner, Zero Reasons Why, which focuses on community initiatives to reduce teen suicide.
Packet pickup is available the day before the event at a predetermined location. Participants may also pick up packets for friends and family members. Any remaining packets can be collected at the race site on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
