The Speyside Triathlon
The Speyside Triathlon is a swim, cycle and run event held at Loch Insh Outdoor Centre, Kincraig, in the Cairngorms National Park. The course comprises three parts:
- Swim: 500 m open water
- Cycle: 18 km with about 70 percent gravel or forest trail and 30 percent road
- Run: 10 km with about 90 percent trail and 10 percent road
The event includes race entry with chip timing, a guided warm up, a finisher's medal, free event photos, water stations, first aid support and marshals on course. Prizes are awarded to the top three competitors in each category. Organiser discounts are available at Loch Insh Outdoor Centre and Tiso Aviemore.
Participants are advised that a reasonable level of fitness and correct preparation are required. A wetsuit is optional but recommended. Recommended kit includes a mountain or gravel bike with helmet, running shoes, warm dry clothing for after the race and any preferred snacks or gels. An on-course mechanical support service is not available; a basic bike repair kit is advised.
