The Sparrow, Griffin GA

The Sparrow is a looped running event held in Griffin, GA featuring a 6 hour race and a 3 hour race. The course uses an approximately 2 mile loop of smooth single track trail that is mostly easy and rolling and circles a lake. A central aid station provides typical ultra food with efforts to accommodate various dietary preferences. Participants may bring personal fuel and hydration and are permitted to set up a tent at the aid area.

The event moved to Griffin in 2026 to use a more scenic trail around a lake. All registrants receive a Sparrow t-shirt; the deadline to be guaranteed a shirt is January 20. Runners who cover over 50K in the 6 hour race or over 25K in the 3 hour race receive a raffle ticket for prize drawings from sponsors.

A co-race director who is an ultrarunning counselor offers mental health support and professional sessions are available through a counseling service for those seeking additional help with issues such as perfectionism, eating disorders, body image, or burnout.
