The Shimmy in Shickshinny : event overview
The Shimmy in Shickshinny 1/2 and 1/4 Marathon takes place on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania (100 N. Susquehanna Ave., 18655). The event offers two distances:
- 1/2 Marathon
- 1/4 Marathon
Fees are presented in tiers; the half marathon fee range is $50 to $65 and the quarter marathon fee range is $30 to $45. Participants receive a race-themed T-shirt while supplies last and a unique finisher's medal. A portion of race proceeds and 100% of donations support the Susquehanna Warrior Trail.
Course and logistics
Both events use an out-and-back route on the Susquehanna Warrior Trail along the west bank of the Susquehanna River in Luzerne County. The trail surface is flat, hard-packed dirt and gravel, with a total elevation gain and loss of 11 feet and about 90% of the route shaded. The quarter marathon covers the first half of the half-marathon course.
Porta-potties are available at the starting area and along the course. Water stations are located roughly every 2 miles. There is on-site parking in nearby lots and along the street. Packet pickup is handled on race day at the event site. Dogs are allowed but discouraged for safety; Pennsylvania law requires dogs to be leashed on public property. Strollers are not allowed. Awards include plaques for the top three male and female overall, top three male and female masters (half marathon only), and top three male and female in listed age groups from 14 and under to 70+.
