The Shimmy in Shickshinny 1/2 and 1/4 Marathon
The Shimmy in Shickshinny offers two distances on Saturday August 8, 2026, and is staged from 100 N. Susquehanna Ave., Shickshinny, PA 18655. The course follows the Susquehanna Warrior Trail along the west bank of the Susquehanna River in Luzerne County. It is an out and back route on hard packed dirt and gravel with a total elevation gain and loss of 11 feet. Approximately 90 percent of the trail is shaded.
Event services include porta potties at the start area and along the course, and water stations placed roughly every 2 miles. Packet pickup is handled on site on race day. There is parking near the start in several parking lots and along the street. Participants receive a race themed T shirt while supplies last and a unique finisher's medal.
Dogs are allowed on the public trail but must be leashed according to state law; organizers discourage running with dogs unless the dog is experienced running in groups. Strollers are not permitted on the trail. A portion of proceeds and all donations support the Susquehanna Warrior Trail.
Awards are given to top finishers overall and in age categories; a masters division applies to the half marathon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
