Event
The WVS Winter's End 4.5 Mile Run is a Wyoming Valley Striders race scheduled for March 2026. The course is 4.5 miles and follows scenic rolling hills in the Lehman area near Penn State University, Wilkes-Barre. The race starts and finishes at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus in Dallas, PA. The event will be chip timed. The first 200 entrants qualify for a commemorative Frank Shorter midweight reversible runners' hat - 50th Anniversary edition.
Details
Runners must pre-register online; race day entries will not be accepted. Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable. Pre-entry fees are listed as WVS members $20 and non-members $25. The race is open to anyone; WVS membership information and a membership purchase option are available through the event store.
Awards include 50th Anniversary medals for the top male and female overall and top three males and females in each age group. Age groups run from 19 & under up to 70 & over.
Safety and spectator notes: animals are not allowed to accompany runners; baby strollers are not permitted; alcoholic beverages are not permitted on campus. Roads on the course are narrow and no spectator vehicles are allowed on the course. Spectators may view the race from the start/finish area, parking lot areas, and the turnaround point near the intersection next to Lake Lehman High School.
