The Shady City Race
The Shady City Race is the third annual running event held on the Jim Simmons Memorial Trail in Millcreek Park, Marysville, Ohio. The event takes place on a tree lined, chip timed, paved trail and offers multiple distances for adults and children.
Participants can choose from:
- 5K Leafy Loop
- 10K Tree Line Trek
- Sapling Dash kids run, about 0.25 miles out and back
Entry fees vary by distance and registration date, with published amounts ranging from $15 for the kids race to $45 for adult distances at later registration stages. Registrations are non refundable and non transferable.
A portion of event proceeds supports the local Blessings in a Backpack program. The donation page directs 100 percent of its proceeds to that program. Blessings in a Backpack in Marysville provides non perishable food each week during the school year for children who need supplemental nutrition. The program serves five elementary schools and one intermediate school, sends a minimum of six items per weekend bag, and is funded entirely by the community. Since 2012 the program has served between 140 and 285 children per year.
