The Shady City Race
The Shady City Race is the third annual trail running event on the Jim Simmons Memorial Trail in Marysville, Ohio. The race base is Millcreek Park at 501 N Maple St. The course runs on a tree-lined, chip timed, paved trail.
Distances offered include:
- Leafy Loop 5K
- Tree Line Trek 10K
- Sapling Dash kids run about 0.25 miles, out and back
Entry fees for adult distances range from $30 to $40. The kids race fee is $15. Race registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Awards and event swag details are noted as coming soon.
A portion of event proceeds supports Blessings in a Backpack. Donations made through the event donation page are directed 100 percent to that program. Blessings in a Backpack in Marysville provides non-perishable food each week during the school year and currently serves Edgewood, Mill Valley, Navin, Northwood, and Raymond elementary schools plus Creekview Intermediate School. The program has served between 140 and 285 children per year since 2012 and sends a minimum of two breakfast items, two entree or protein items, and two healthy snacks in each weekend bag.
