Rocks and Roots Winter Series
The Rocks and Roots Winter Series takes place at Alum Creek State Park in Lewis Center, Ohio. This annual event is held on the Rocks and Roots Trail, a path specifically constructed for runners. The series consists of two separate race dates in January and February, providing participants with the opportunity to explore the local trail system during the winter season.
Participants can choose to register for individual race dates or enter the full series. Those who register for the complete series receive a trail package that includes a sweatshirt, socks, a handheld water bottle, and race-branded buffs. Registration is open to the public with various pricing tiers based on the date of entry.
The event offers a variety of distances to accommodate different goals:
- 10 km
- 20 km
- 30 km
- 40 km
- 50 km
The course for the 50 km distance has a total time limit of 8 hours, requiring a minimum pace of 15:27 per mile. Specific timing cut-offs are enforced for the final laps of the longest distance to ensure all runners complete the course within the designated timeframe. Finisher medals are awarded to all participants, while runners who complete the 50 km distance at both events are eligible for a belt buckle. Packet pickup is held at a local running store in Lewis Center prior to the events, with race-day pickup also available at the trailhead.
