The 45th Annual Scrooge Scramble 5K
The Scrooge Scramble 5K is a long-standing road race event presented by TruNorth Construction and held on Christmas Day in Vernon, Connecticut. The 2026 edition marks the 45th year of the race, which follows a course set on the shaded Rails to Trails path. The race begins at the Church Street Parking Lot.
The course follows the trail from Phoenix Street to the 1.5-mile marker, located before Valley Falls Park, where participants turn around to head back to the finish line. This route is a USATF Certified 5K Race Course. For those traveling by car, parking is available on the trail side of both Church Street and Birch Street.
Registration for the event is conducted entirely online. Participants are required to attach their race PIN numbers to the front of their jerseys using four pins. While digital registration is the primary method, an option exists to pay by check on the day of the event using a specific procedural code during the online checkout process.
All proceeds from the event are directed to the Cornerstone Foundation. These funds support various community services including local shelters, a soup kitchen, a food cupboard, and a clothing bank.
