Meeting Street | The Schwartz School Superhero Walk, Roll & 5K Race
This community event takes place at Fort Taber Park in New Bedford and centers on a walk, a roll option, and a certified 5K race. Both the walk and the 5K begin and end in front of the Fort Taber Community Center. The schedule includes refreshments and family friendly activities.
Distances:
- 1 mile walk and roll route within the Fort perimeter
- 5K certified course through the local community
Registration details differ by event. Walk registration is complimentary; 5K registration carries a fee of $45. Registration opens August 27, 2026 and closes October 18, 2026. Fundraising is encouraged. Participants who reach a $20 fundraising goal by September 25, 2026 receive a complimentary event T shirt; registered runners are provided an event T shirt. T shirts are distributed at check in at the Fort Taber Community Center and additional shirts may be available at registration while supplies last. Every child who participates receives a complimentary superhero cape.
Proceeds from the event support The Schwartz School and Meeting Street's Early Childhood Programs, which provide educational and developmental services for children and families in the community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
