The Schwartz School Superhero Walk, Roll & 5K Race
Scheduled for October 18, 2026 at the Fort Taber Community Center, 1000A Rodney French Boulevard, New Bedford, MA, this event includes both a community walk and a certified 5K race.

Both the walk and the race begin and end in front of the Fort Taber Community Center. Walk participants follow a route within the Fort perimeter; runners follow a certified 5K course through the local community.
Walk registration is complimentary and fundraising is encouraged; walkers of all ages are asked to register. The 5K has a registration fee of $45. Registration opens August 27, 2026 and closes October 18, 2026.
T-shirt and participant details are provided: registered runners receive complimentary event T-shirts. Walk participants who reach a $20 fundraising goal by September 25, 2026 receive a complimentary T-shirt. Participants are asked to indicate preferred T-shirt size at registration. T-shirts will be distributed at check-in at the Fort Taber Community Center and additional shirts will be available at the registration table while supplies last. Every child participant will receive a complimentary superhero cape.
Proceeds from the event support The Schwartz School and Meeting Street's Early Childhood Programs, which provide educational and developmental services for children and families in the community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
