The Salisbury Beast 5K
The Salisbury Beast 5K is an annual running event located in the hills of Salisbury, Connecticut. The race follows a USATF certified course that begins at the Town Hall in Salisbury.
The route features an out-and-back layout that includes significant elevation changes. Runners encounter a climb that gains 500 feet of actual elevation within the first 1.3 miles. Upon reaching the turnaround point at the top of Lincoln City Road, the course descends back down the same path. During the run, participants have views of Lake Wononscopomuc, particularly prominent during the autumn season.
The event serves as a fundraiser, with proceeds and donations directed toward youth programming and educational initiatives in New England. Historically, the race has contributed funds to organizations focused on adventure, arts, and drug abuse prevention for individuals aged 12-20. Specific proceeds from the event support the Catamount Resort's National Ski Patrol Young Adult Program.
