Lake Waramaug Polar Bear Run : 41st Annual event
The 41st Annual Lake Waramaug Polar Bear Run takes place on February 22, 2026 at Hopkins Vineyard in Warren, Connecticut. The main running event is a scenic 7.8 mile loop around Lake Waramaug that travels counterclockwise along the shoreline and passes through the towns of Washington, Warren and Kent. The route is primarily flat with a few gentle rolling hills; the final 0.2 miles ascend Hopkins Hill to the finish at Hopkins Vineyard.
The event includes a walk option and is organized with the support of more than 75 volunteers. It benefits Guiding Eyes for the Blind and has raised $45,089 for that beneficiary since 2018. Trainers and guide dogs have attended the event, and guide dogs from the Running Guides Program have completed the course as part of their training.
Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers; the overall first place winner receives a $100 TrailHeads gift card and a bottle of wine from Hopkins Vineyard. Age group awards are presented for the top three in each category from 18 & under through 70 & over. Participant numbers are limited to 700. Parking and registration are centered at Hopkins Vineyard, with parking available in several lots near the intersection of North Shore Road and Hopkins Road.
