Event Overview
The Ruff is a trail running event located in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area in Carson, Washington. Organized by Elevated Trail Racing, the race takes place at the Dog Mountain Trailhead and follows a course that utilizes single-track trails. Participants run a specific route that ascends to the summit of Dog Mountain before returning to the trailhead area.

The race consists of a single distance:

The course covers a significant elevation change, ascending 3,000 feet over the first 3 miles to reach the summit. From the top, the route follows the Augspurger Trail for a 4 mile descent back to the finish line. The trail environment offers views of the Columbia River, Mt. Hood, and Mt. St. Helens.
Logistics and Facilities
Bib pickup is held on the morning of the event at the Dog Mountain Trailhead. Due to limited parking at the venue, carpooling is encouraged for all participants. The event provides food and beverages at the finish area, including pizza and beer from local brewing companies. Well-behaved dogs are permitted to accompany participants.
Recognition and Awards
The event recognizes several categories of finishers. Awards are presented to the top three male and female runners, as well as the top masters male and female participants. Specific awards are also designated for the first male and female to reach the summit and the fastest male and female times recorded for the downhill section.
