The Rubicon

The Rubicon

The Rubicon is a remote, on- and off-trail foot race held at Oxbow Reservoir, CA and organized by Skybreaker Racing. The event takes place in the backcountry of the northwestern Sierra Nevada and is described by the organizer as very difficult and not to be taken lightly.

This is not an official race. The event is presented as a fatass, a glorified group run. There will be no course markings, no aid stations, no event staff, and no medical team. Participants should plan accordingly.

Route options include:

• The Requisite: 15+ miles, ≈6,700 ft gain, 3 hill climbs, 2 water crossings
• The Resonant: 30+ miles, ≈12,700 ft gain, 6 hill climbs, 6 water crossings
• The Revenant: 43+ miles, ≈19,300 ft gain, 8 hill climbs, 8 water crossings

Progression rules apply: completion of The Requisite is required before attempting The Resonant in the future, and completion of The Resonant is required before attempting The Revenant in the future.

The event is scheduled according to a recurring rule: it falls on the fourth Saturday of October when that month has five Saturdays, otherwise it moves to the first Saturday of October to avoid conflict with another event.
