The Legacy
The Legacy is a trail running event near Sapphire, North Carolina, at 976 Grassy Ridge Road and within Gorges State Park. The event is organized by Dirty Wolf Racing / Dirty Wolf Ultras and offers multiple race distances.

The main route is a 16 mile trail loop. The 25K is one full loop and the 50K is two full loops. In rainy conditions the course may be changed to a 7 mile out-and-back of the first section. Flagging will use yellow ribbon and yellow arrows. Trekking poles are allowed and recommended on the trails.
Aid station provisions include basic food items such as pickles, cereal, pretzels, candy, fruit, and bacon; hydration options include water, Tailwind, and a variety of sodas. First aid supplies will be available at the aid station. Packet pickup is available the day before the race.
The race has a 10 hour cutoff. Medals are handmade and unique, awarded upon completion. Entry fees are non-refundable, including in cases of inclement weather. The event is private and unregistered participants are not allowed. Race proceeds go to research into brain deterioration and learning disabilities. Results will be listed on UltrasignUp.
