The Devil's Gorge
The Devil's Gorge is an outdoor trail event organized by Dirty Wolf Ultras in Gorges State Park, Sapphire, NC, with a listed venue address at 976 Grassy Ridge Road. The event offers two distance options:
- 50K
- 25K
The course is described as technical and steep, with sustained climbs, technical descents, exposed roots, rock gardens, waterfalls, and notable elevation changes. The route is marked with red ribbon and red arrows. Trekking poles are allowed and are recommended for the longer route. A day before packet pickup is available for bib distribution.
Aid station provisions include a range of basic foods such as pickles, cereal, pretzels, candy, fruit, and bacon, plus hydration options including water, Tailwind, and various sodas. First aid supplies are available at the aid station. The event uses a 10 hour cutoff and awards completion medals.
Additional event rules note that dogs and strollers are not allowed on the course except by special exception, runners and walkers may participate if they finish within the time limit, entry fees are non refundable, and the event is private so unregistered participants are not permitted.
