The Legacy
The Legacy is a trail race held at Gorges State Park near 976 Grassy Ridge Road in Sapphire, North Carolina. The event offers multiple distance options on a 16 mile trail loop. The 25K follows one full loop and the 50K consists of two full loops. In wet conditions the course may be shortened to a 7 mile out-and-back using the first section of the route.

Aid station provisions include basic food items such as pickles, cereal, pretzels, candy, fruit and bacon. Hydration options include water, Tailwind and a selection of sodas. First aid supplies will be available at the aid station. Bibs must be worn visibly on the front of the shirt or shorts for the entire race. Trekking poles are permitted and the organizer recommends bringing them for the trail route. Flagging on course will use yellow ribbon and yellow arrows.
Packet pickup is available the day before the race. The event has a 10 hour cutoff and awards handmade, unique medals to finishers. The race honors the organizer’s parents who have passed away, and proceeds support research into brain deterioration and learning disabilities.
