The Perfect Ten & Five Mile Road Race
The event is held on the Railroad Canal Line in Hamden, Connecticut, across from the Quinnipiac York Hill campus. It features two measured out-and-back road race distances that use the rail-trail corridor and are described as flat and shaded.
- 10 miles: out 5 miles and back; net gain 150'; aid at 2.4, 5, 7.6.
- 5 miles: out 2.5 miles and back; net gain 60'; aid at mile 2.6.
All entrants receive men's or women's cut short sleeve tech shirts. Ten mile finishers receive custom 3" finisher medals. Aid stations supply Poland Spring water and Gatorade Endurance; the same beverages are available at the finish. The venue provides porto-lets, live text and email results, and free finish line photos. Awards are custom coffee mugs presented to the top three men and top three women overall, and top three men and women in the listed age groups: 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+.
Bib pickup is handled by event staff beginning at 5:15 AM, with registration closing at 6:45 AM; runners must know their bib number or use the self-lookup area. There is ample parking at the Rail Trail lots and on-street where legal; parking is not permitted at the Dunkin Donuts / Amity Liquors lot. The event runs rain or shine.
