The Perfect Ten & Five Mile Road Race
The event takes place on Saturday August 1, 2026, on the Farmington Heritage Canal Trail in Hamden, Connecticut. The course is entirely on the Rail Trail, uses a simple out and back format, and avoids street crossings and traffic. The trail is described as flat and shaded, with a small net elevation gain for each distance. The start and finish are at the Rail Trail parking lot used for other local races. Parking is available at Rail Trail lots and on nearby streets.
Distances offered:
- 10 Mile out and back, net gain 150 feet, aid at miles 2.4, 5, 7.6.
- 5 Mile out and back, net gain 60 feet, aid at mile 2.6.
Aid stations provide Poland Spring water and Gatorade Endurance. The event supplies men's and women's cut short sleeve technical shirts for all entrants, custom 3 inch finisher medals for Ten Mile finishers, and custom coffee mug awards for overall top three and every ten year division in both races. Facilities include porto-lets at the venue and free finish line photos plus finisher certificates from the race photographer. Timing is chip based with both net and gun times, and live text and email result streaming.
This is an inaugural pricing structure. Online entry deadlines, race day entry fees and payment methods are listed; race policies state no refunds, no transfers, and no deferrals. A 20 percent combo discount is offered for entry in this race and the Rail Trail 10K held at the same venue in October. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
