The Pendulum 2026
The Pendulum is a timed fell race held in the Langleeford area of the Cheviot Hills. The course visits Hedgehope Hill and The Cheviot and covers 11 mile with approximately 3689 ft of climb. The route is well marked and a GPX file will be supplied before the event.
The event includes a midway water station, race bib and timing, and a finisher medal for participants. Marshals will staff the course and the event is supported and overseen by mountain rescue. Prizes are listed for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for male and female categories.
Organisers set a cut off of 3 hours to reach the halfway point, defined as climbing The Cheviot and returning; competitors who meet this cut off may continue to Hedgehope. Recommended kit includes trail shoes, waterproofs, a whistle, hat and gloves. The valley has limited parking and organisers advise considering car sharing. Stalls in the event village will operate on a cash only basis due to limited mobile signal.
Entries are managed through the SiEntries system and require registration. The event has an age minimum of 18 and an entry fee of £29. In the event of snow or ice preventing access to the start location, the event will be postponed. Photography and filming may be used for promotional purposes and dogs are not permitted.
