The Pendulum 2027
The Pendulum 2027 is a fell race based at Langleeford that visits Hedgehope Hill and The Cheviot as successive summits. The advertised course distance is 11 miles with 3689 ft of total ascent.
The race is limited to 200 runners and has a minimum age of 18 on the event date. The stated entry fee is £31. Entries open 1 August 2026 and close 26 March 2027.
Organiser support includes experienced marshals, a tail runner, and oversight by mountain rescue. The course is marked and there is a water station at the halfway point. Participants receive a GPX file of the route before the event, a race bib with timing, and a finisher medal; summit wristbands are issued from the top of each peak and must be shown at the finish to claim the medal. Prizes are listed for first, second and third placed male and female competitors.
Recommended kit includes trail shoes, waterproofs, a whistle, hat and gloves. There is an event village after the race where stalls operate on a cash only basis due to limited mobile signal in the valley. There is limited parking in the valley. If snow or ice prevents access to the start location the event will be postponed rather than cancelled. Note that dogs are not permitted.
