The Pendulum - North Middleton
This is a fell running event taking place on March 22, 2026. It is located in Langleeford, at the base of Hedgehope Hill and The Cheviot, the two highest peaks in the Cheviot Hills.
The course is an 11-mile route that involves summiting both Hedgehope Hill and The Cheviot. The total elevation gain is 3,689 feet.
Registration for the event opens at 7:30 AM. The race starts at 9:30 AM. Participation is limited to 150 runners. The minimum age requirement is 18.
There is an intermediate cut-off time of 3 hours to reach the halfway point, which involves climbing The Cheviot and returning. Runners who meet this cut-off may continue to Hedgehope Hill.
Organizers recommend trail shoes and carrying waterproofs, a whistle, a hat, and gloves. The course is marked and has a water station at the halfway point. A GPX file of the route will be provided before race day. The event is supported by mountain rescue.
Finishers who present wristbands collected from each summit will receive a medal. Prizes are awarded for the top three male and female finishers.
Post-race, an event village with stalls will be available, operating on a cash-only basis due to limited mobile signal. Car sharing is encouraged as parking is limited.
