The Next Loop: Endurance Series, Lake Carl Blackwell
The Next Loop is a loop-based endurance event held on a clearly marked 3.1 mile (5K) trail at Lake Carl Blackwell in Stillwater, OK. The format asks runners to start a new lap each hour and to complete as many laps as they choose, with each finished loop counted toward the runner's official result.
The course follows natural terrain and is described as scenic and varied. Each loop begins on the hour and loop times are recorded from the hourly start to the moment a runner crosses the finish line. Final rankings are based first on the number of loops completed and then on combined time.
Distances tracked by loop include:
- 1 loop = 5K
- 2 loops = 10K
- 4 loops = Half Marathon
- 9 loops = Marathon
- 10 loops = 50K
An aid station is available at the central base area before each loop to provide hydration and basic nutrition. The centralized loop format allows friends, family, and crew to support runners between laps.
Practical details include a flat entry fee of $100 and the event location at Lake Carl Blackwell, 11000 W Hwy 51, Stillwater, OK 74074. Registration closes Fri, Nov 20 at 11:59 PM CT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
