The Next Loop: Endurance Series - Cliff Cave
The Next Loop at Cliff Cave Park is a loop-based trail endurance event held in St. Louis County, Missouri. Runners complete a clearly marked 5K loop (3.1 miles) on wooded trails that include rolling hills and bluff-side sections overlooking the Mississippi River. Each loop is the same course and offers a mix of runnable sections and moderate climbs.
Loops begin at the top of each hour and each loop time is recorded from that start to the moment the runner crosses the finish line. Final results are ordered first by the number of loops completed and then by combined total time. There are no penalties, cutoffs, or timeouts: runners stop when they choose and completed loops still count toward the official result.
An aid station is located at the central base area before each loop to provide hydration and basic nutrition. The centralized loop format keeps support and crew close between laps and makes it straightforward to rest and refuel between efforts.
Distances build by completed loops:
- 1 loop = 5K
- 2 loops = 10K
- 4 loops = Half Marathon
- 9 loops = Marathon
- 10 loops = 50K
