Event overview
The Montane Lakeland 50 & 100 takes place over the weekend of 24–26 July 2026. It is a long distance trail running event based at Coniston, Cumbria. The event requires experience in ultra distance running or fell walking and competent navigation. Minimum age for entry is 18. The Lakeland 100 is a circular route that starts and finishes at Coniston. The route uses almost entirely public bridleways and footpaths and includes around 6,300 m of ascent. The course follows a clockwise loop through the Dunnerdale fells, Eskdale, Wasdale, Buttermere, Keswick, Matterdale, Haweswater, Kentmere, Ambleside and Elterwater before returning to Coniston. The route does not pass over the region's popular summits.
The Lakeland 50 follows the second half of the 100 route, starting from the Dalemain Estate north of Pooley Bridge and finishing at Coniston. The 50 route includes roughly 3,000 m of ascent and visits Long Sleddale, Kentmere, Ambleside, Langdale and Tilberthwaite.

The Lakeland 100 has 14 staffed, compulsory checkpoints where food and drink are provided. The Lakeland 50 has 6 staffed, compulsory checkpoints with food and drink.
