Event overview

The Montane Lakeland 50 & 100 are long-distance trail races in the Lake District, UK, held over the weekend of 24–26 July 2026. Distances offered:

  • 100 miles with about 6300 m of ascent.
  • 50 miles with about 3100 m of ascent.

The 100 is a circular route that starts and finishes at Coniston and follows public bridleways and footpaths around the Lakeland fells. The 50 covers the second half of the 100 route, starting from Dalemain Estate and finishing at Coniston.

Course and logistics

The 100 course passes through Dunnerdale fells, Eskdale, Wasdale, Buttermere, Keswick, Matterdale, Haweswater, Kentmere, Ambleside and Elterwater before returning to Coniston. The 50 route follows Ullswater, Haweswater, Long Sleddale, Kentmere, Ambleside, Langdale and Tilberthwaite to Coniston. The 100 has 14 staffed compulsory checkpoints; the 50 has 6. Food and drink are provided at each staffed checkpoint.

The 100 has a 40-hour overall time limit. The 50 has a 24-hour time limit.

Entries and requirements

Entries opened in September 2025 and close 19 July 2026. Event minimum age is 18. Entry fees listed are £190 for the 100 and £160 for the 50. The event listing notes the event is currently full.
