Event Overview
The Mile, presented by Pacesetter Sports, is an annual running event held in Terre Haute, Indiana. The competition takes place every year on July 4. The course begins on Brown Blvd, located approximately one mile north of the Indiana State University Memorial Stadium, and concludes near the stadium grounds. Participants contribute to a charitable cause, as proceeds from the event are used to fund the Lace it Up Kids Running Program of the Wabash Valley Road Runners.
There are two primary event categories available:
- The Mile
- Lace It Up! Kids Running Program - The Mile (open to participants aged 13 and under)
The competition is organized into three distinct heats. The first heat is designated for female runners, the second heat is for male runners, and the final heat is dedicated to the Kids Running Program.
Awards are presented across various categories based on performance. Recognition is given to overall winners, walkers, and age group participants. Age group awards are categorized in 5-year increments, with the specific number of awards per group determined by pre-registration figures. Walker awards are not based on age but are given to the first individuals to cross the finish line in that category. Participants registered as walkers are required to walk the entire distance to maintain competitive fairness. People who register by the late June deadline are eligible to receive an event t-shirt.
