The Memorial Mile

The Memorial Mile is an annual running and walking event held in Lansing, Michigan. The event includes two primary categories:

  • Mile Run
  • Mile Walk

The course is located at 3900 Stabler St, with activities centered around the track. Both the run and the walk utilize chip timing provided by the Michigan Running Foundation to ensure precise results. Participants in both events receive a finisher medal and a short-sleeve race shirt, though garments are only guaranteed for those who register by the mid-May deadline.

The event features a competitive element with awards presented to the top three male and female finishers in two age categories: those under 39 and those 40 and over. Separate awards are maintained for the run and the walk, with the requirement that those in the walking category complete the entire distance on foot.

Live results are provided during the event and are published online afterward. Registration fees are structured with a discount for participants aged 18 and under, and a friends and family discount is available for groups of three or more people registering simultaneously. Proceeds from the event are used to fund track and field equipment for Lansing Schools. Packet pickup is conducted at the track on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
