The Medway Mile 2026
The Medway Mile returns to Medway Park in Gillingham on 17 July 2026. Organised by Medway Sport, the event is a free community sporting occasion that celebrates the diversity of sport and physical activity in Medway as part of the Love Gillingham Campaign. The mass mile route finishes within the grounds of the Medway Park athletics track.
The programme brings a mix of activities across the venue. There are free sporting tasters from local clubs, children's and family fun races on the athletics track that are organised on the night with no pre booking required, and an official mascot race. Competitive adult and licensed elite mile track races take place in partnership with Medway and Maidstone Athletics Club. The mass mile is open to participants walking, jogging or running. Medals will be provided for junior participants. Organisers have chosen not to provide free participant T shirts this year and are directing resources to activities, entertainment and junior medals. On site catering is available for post event snacks. Public transport links such as Gillingham train station and local bus services are suggested for travel to the venue.
