Lesnes Abbey 5 - Ray Marshall Memorial

Lesnes Abbey 5 is a hilly, off-road trail race held in Lesnes Abbey Woods in memory of Plumstead Runners’ founding member Ray Marshall. The event is scheduled for 13 December 2026 and is organised by Plumstead Runners with volunteers and marshals on site.

The course is roughly five miles and has total elevation in the region of 350 m (approximately 1,150 ft); organisers note distance and elevation have not been officially measured. The route begins on gravel before moving onto woodland trails. Competitors should expect slippery mud, steps, slopes, tree roots and general woodland debris. Trail running shoes are recommended and each runner is responsible for their own welfare on the course.

Timing is manual and the event uses a mass start format; finishing times will be published on the club website within 24 hours. A tail runner enforces a 90 minute cut off. Race mementoes will be awarded to the first three males and first three females respectively; no additional prizes are included.

Event facilities include public toilets by the kiosk and a Chestnuts Kiosk selling hot drinks and snacks. There are no changing or showering facilities. Race bibs include a bag drop tag for a rucksack sized bag and use of the bag drop is at the entrant’s own risk. Entry requires participants to be aged 20 or more on the day. The use of headphones is prohibited for this trail event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
