The McTaggart Trot 2026
The McTaggart Trot takes place in Eppleby Village on Sunday 20 December 2026. The event is a fun run on road and pavement with an undulating course. It uses a 3.1 mile (5 km) loop that is repeated to create longer distances.
Entry is organised around teams of three. Within each team the slowest runner completes 5 km, the middle runner completes 10 km and the fastest runner completes 15 km. Teams start together and must remain together at the end of each loop when a team member stops at the 5 km and 10 km points. Individuals may enter and provide an expected time for their chosen distance; organisers will place individual entrants into teams.
The event notes a maximum of 350 entrants, a minimum age of 10 years and an entries close date of 20/12/2026. Competitors are encouraged to wear Christmas outfits. The event aims to raise funds for St Teresa's Hospice. The postcode for the event location is DL11 7AT.
