The McTaggart Trot 2026
The McTaggart Trot is scheduled for Sunday 20 December 2026 in Eppleby Village. The event is sponsored by Dales Runner and aims to raise funds for St Teresa's Hospice. The event returns to the Village Hall location used previously in 2025.
The event format is a three-loop team relay based on a 3.1 mile (5 km) loop. Teams consist of three runners who start together at the pace of the slowest team member. At the end of the first loop the slowest runner stops at the 5 km point with the team together; the remaining two then run the second loop together and stop at the 10 km point; the final runner completes the third loop alone to finish at 15 km. Individuals may enter and provide an expected time for their chosen distance to be placed into a team.
Other event details include a maximum of 350 entrants and a minimum age of 10 years. Entries close on 20/12/2026. Competitors are encouraged to wear Christmas outfits.
