The Maverick South Downs Trail 2026
The Maverick South Downs Trail takes place on Saturday 3 October 2026 at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Horndean. The event offers five distances that run out from the park along chalk downs, woodlands, farm trails and ridgeways, crossing the Hampshire and Sussex border.
Distances and elevation gains:
- 50k Ultra: 51 km, +1294 m
- Marathon: 42 km, +1118 m
- Half Marathon: 21 km, +479 m
- Middle: 9 km, +205 m
- Short: 5 km, +144 m
The Ultra and Marathon routes follow sections of the South Downs Way and include several outposts for fuel and hydration. The Ultra route passes through Harting Downs and West Dean Woods. There is no outpost on the Short route. Outposts will offer fruit, cake, crisps, gels and electrolyte drinks, and the event aims to be cup free so participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle.
Course and event services are provided as a fully marked and timed event with online results, event photography, bag drop, food and drink and a metal finishers medal. Parking in the event car park is free; the car park is a short walk from the start and finish area. Online entry closes Wednesday 30 September 2026 at 11am and on the day entries may be available if the event is not sold out. Dog entries have sold out.
Runners are advised to carry at least 1 litre of water, a waterproof jacket, a mobile phone and a foil blanket. A list of mandatory items applies to the 50k Ultra and Marathon routes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
