Event overview
The Maverick New Forest Gravel 2026 is a one-day trail running event on 17 January 2026 at Holmsley Campsite, Forest Road, Burley, in the New Forest National Park, Hampshire. The event is organised by Maverick Race and uses trails that are moderately smooth and generally covered with gravel. Routes run through mixed ancient woodland with evergreen and deciduous trees; the organiser notes wildlife such as bats and deer in the area. The event is dog friendly, but dog entries are currently sold out. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult.
Routes and race facilities
- Half Marathon: 22 km, +172 m elevation
- Middle: 12 km, +111 m elevation
- Short: 6 km, +31 m elevation
The Short route has no outpost. The Middle route has one outpost at about 8.5 km; the Half Marathon has two outposts at about 8 km and 16 km. Outposts provide snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks, but no pre-filled water cups; runners are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle and can use self-serve water barrels. The venue offers free parking, a fully marked course, electronic timing and online results, event photography, food and drink, a bag drop area and a wooden finishers medal.
