The Maverick Dark Hampshire Gravel 2026
The Maverick Dark Hampshire Gravel is a night-time trail running event held in Alice Holt Forest, situated on the border of Hampshire and Surrey. The event takes place within the South Downs National Park in an ancient woodland known for its history of supplying timber for Royal Navy ships. Participants navigate wide tracks and tree-lined avenues using head torches.
The event is structured around a 5 km lap format, allowing runners to complete one, two, or three laps. The available distances are:
- 5 km with 69 m of elevation gain
- 10 km with 133 m of elevation gain
- 15 km with 194 m of elevation gain
The course is fully marked and timed, with one outpost available per lap offering water, electrolytes, and snacks. This event is plastic-free, requiring participants to carry their own reusable cups or bottles for hydration. The routes are accessible for various experience levels and are also suitable for those running with buggies. However, dogs are not permitted to participate in this specific event.
Facilities at the venue include free parking, a bag drop area, and a finish line area featuring fire pits and food for purchase. The location is approximately 4 miles from Farnham and 2 miles from Bentley train station, which has direct rail links to London Waterloo.
