About the race
The Maverick West Sussex Trail takes place at Amberley Museum, with the event village next to Amberley railway station. The organiser notes that runners can be collecting race numbers in less than 120 minutes after departing from London. The routes run through the South Downs, including stretches on the South Downs Way, and pass rolling hills, valleys and small hamlets. The trails include fire trails, forest paths and farm tracks with hills and some technical sections.
The organiser describes the difficulty as hilly, fast and not too technical. The event offers the following route options: - Half Marathon: 22 km, +456 m - Middle: 12 km, +281 m - Short: 6 km, +198 m There are outposts on the Middle (one, at about 5 km) and Half Marathon (two, at about 5 km and 14 km); the Short route has no outpost. Outposts provide snacks, gels and electrolyte drink but no pre-filled water cups, so runners should bring a reusable cup or bottle.
There are no toilets along the routes; facilities are available in the start/finish area. Facilities at the venue include free parking, a fully marked and timed course, online results, event photography, food and drink, a bag drop and a metal finisher medal.
