The Magnificent 7 Mile Road Race 2026
The Magnificent 7 is an annual road race organized by the Tamar Trotters running club. Held since 1999, the event features a 7 mile course designed in a figure of 8 layout. The route starts and finishes at the Saltash Rugby Club and traverses country lanes and hamlets in South East Cornwall.
The terrain consists primarily of undulating rural roads. The course includes 200 meters of grass at both the start and the finish. Approximately one mile of the route utilizes pavements and cycle lanes during the approach to and exit from the rugby club. The remainder of the race takes place on narrow lanes, with elevations occurring at the one-mile mark and again at 5.5 miles.
Participants can access a water station at 1.5 miles, which is passed again at the 4-mile mark. The event is part of the Cornish Grand Prix series and utilizes chip timing for all runners. Facilities at the Saltash Rugby Club include registration areas, changing rooms, showers, and a bar with food available after the race. Vehicle parking is situated in a local industrial estate, approximately a ten-minute walk from the venue.
Finishers receive a medal upon completing the course. The race typically hosts approximately 400 participants, ranging from club runners to recreational athletes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
