The Magnificent 7 Mile Road Race
The Magnificent 7 is an annual road race organised by the Tamar Trotters running club and has been held since 1999. The event is based at Saltash Rugby Club and uses a figure of 8 course that passes through rural lanes and hamlets of South East Cornwall.
The measured race distance is 7 mile. The course includes about 200 metres of grass at the start and finish, roughly 1 mile on pavement and cycle lanes on the approaches to the club, and the remainder on undulating country lanes. There are hills located near 1 mile and 5.5 miles. A water station is provided after the first climb at 1.5 miles and is passed again just before 4 miles.
Start, finish, registration, refreshments and prize presentation all take place at Saltash Rugby Club. Medals are awarded to all finishers. Changing rooms and showers are available at the club, and a bar and food are provided afterwards. Parking is available about a ten minute walk away in a nearby industrial estate.
The race is part of the Cornish Grand Prix series and uses chip timing with a formal presentation of category awards. Entries for the 2026 race opened on 8 March 2026 and close on 4 July 2026. Entry fees are listed as UKA Member £15.00 and Non Member £17.00; entries reported so far total 217 participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
