The Loop London
The Loop London is a nonstop ultra that follows a modified version of the London Loop trail, starting and finishing at Cockfosters station. The route is run clockwise following the London Loop markers and a provided GPX file, and the distance is approximately 170 miles with a time limit of 46 hours. The course is mainly trail with urban sections.
Around 35 miles into the route competitors divert toward London Docklands and Canary Wharf, pass through the Greenwich foot tunnel under the Thames, go by the Cutty Sark, loop around the Millennium Dome, continue past the Thames Barrier, and rejoin the London Loop markers at Erith.
Support is minimal and the event uses strict internal checkpoint cutoffs set at 3.7 mph. There are six outdoor bare bones checkpoints, placed at roughly 25 mile intervals, offering water and basic snacks. The event includes Track Trail tracking, drop bag transport, a GPX route file, and a bespoke finisher medal. The event requires a minimum prior completion of a 100 miler and is limited to 25 to 30 places. The entry fee listed is £189 and no refunds, transfers, or deferrals are allowed.
Rules emphasise self reliance: no external support, no pacers, no sticks or walking poles, and no headphones. Runners may use shops or pubs to top up supplies. One small drop bag will be accessible at about 100 miles; drop bags are not posted if a runner abandons. Facilities at the start/finish include station toilets and a nearby garage.
