The Long Woman's 5K Road Race and Family Walk 2026
The Long Woman’s 5K Road Race & Family Walk is scheduled for Friday 5th June in Omeath, Co Louth. A permit has been approved for the event, cert.no: 26/130. The route starts near The Long Woman’s Grave and finishes in Omeath Village.
The course is described as a downhill road race with views across Omeath Village, Carlingford Lough and the Mourne Mountains. The route and local scenery were recently featured in the Netflix series "How to Get to Heaven from Belfast." The event includes a unique finisher’s medal, an optional event t-shirt for purchase, trophies for first, second and third placed male and female finishers, and age category prizes for 1st in O40, O50 and O60 for both males and females.
Transport to the start line is provided by buses departing from outside Howes Bar; participants are asked to follow steward instructions. Ample parking is available for participants and spectators. Race pack collection takes place outside The Grand Central Hotel, Omeath on race day. To reduce waste participants are encouraged to be self-sufficient for hydration; a water station will be available at the finish. Registration confirmation is required for check-in and number collection, and participants must meet the specified age requirements.
