The Last Duel Trail Race
The Last Duel Trail Race is scheduled for 23 August 2026 in Cardenden Woods, with race HQ and registration at the Corrie Centre. The course starts and finishes in the playpark next to Cardenden Primary School and is approximately 5.7 miles long. The route passes the site where the last pistol duel in Scotland took place on 23 August 1826.
The course is mainly off road, with sections through woodland, a farm track, a gravel path, a small timber bridge and a section under the dual carriageway. Terrain changes quickly and can be muddy, rocky or rooted in places. Trail shoes are recommended.
Entry information includes an entry fee of £17.00 with a £3.00 discount for Scottish Athletics members and a discounted price of £14.00 available until 9 August 2026. Entries close on 9 August 2026 and there will be no entries on the day. All numbers and medals are issued in a goodie bag and must be collected on the morning of the event; numbers will not be posted. All entries are non refundable. If the race is rescheduled for reasons beyond the organisers control, entries will be carried forward to the revised date.
Participants must be aged 16 or older and eligible under Scottish Athletics rules. Runners take part at their own risk and should be fit to complete the distance. Results will be published on Fife Athletic Club and the event Facebook pages. Prizes and refreshments are provided at the Corrie Centre and every finisher receives a unique medal. Parking at the Corrie Centre is limited; additional parking is advised at Cardenden Primary School. There are no changing facilities on site.
