The L8KES Run
The L8KES Run is an athletic event held at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville, New York. Presented by Charity For Children, the event utilizes the trails and roadways within the park. The various courses take participants through wooded areas and along the lake beach paths.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 13 km (The L8KE Monster, combining the 8K and 5K distances)
- 8 km (Certified run)
- 5K (Trail run including a youth division)
- 2 Miles (Trail walk)
- 1200 Yards (Kids Fun-Run)
The 5K route begins on the beach path and continues through the wooded trails surrounding the lakes. The 2 Mile trail walk is designed for families and follows a similar environment. Hydration and aid stations are positioned at points along the course to support those participating.
Registered runners and walkers, excluding those in the Kids Fun-Run and walk categories, receive a custom race shirt and bib. Awards are presented to overall winners. All participants are provided with ice cream following the event. Packet pickup and race day registration take place at a large tent near the Community Room within the state park.
