The Kirikiriroa Marathon
The Kirikiriroa Marathon is a community-run running event held on 6 June 2026 at Hamilton Gardens, Rhododendron Lawn, Hamilton. The event is organised by a local committee and is presented as an inclusive, volunteer-driven community race along the Te Awa River Path.

The course begins near Gate 1 and the new walking bridge, follows the Waikato River through gardens, suburbs, bridges and boardwalks, includes a loop near Hamilton Gardens, and reaches a final turnaround before returning to the Gardens for the finish. Key on-course locations named in the route include Fitzroy, Riverglade, Tamahere turnaround, ANZAC Bridge, Grantham Street, Anne Street and Fairfield Bridge.
Race services include aide stations and toilets at several points on the course. Bib collection is at Hamilton Gardens near the Visitor Centre during pre-race and race-morning sessions. The event operates a cupless policy so participants must bring their own cup or hydration system. The marathon has an overall maximum course time of eight hours and uses intermediate cutoffs and designated relay changeover points.

The organisers reserve the right to alter, postpone or cancel the event due to circumstances beyond their control.
