Hamilton Half Marathon
The Hamilton Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 14 March 2027 with a start and finish at Hamilton Gardens. The course follows the banks of the Waikato River and passes through parks, landmarks and historic neighbourhoods.
The event offers the following distances:
- 21 km half marathon
- 10 km
- 5 km
The course is generally flat with some small undulations and combines sealed road surfaces and smooth paved paths. Walkers are welcome in the 21 km event and are asked to start at the back and keep to the left at all times. Toilets are available at the start/finish area and at locations around the course.
Aid stations are provided along the courses. For the 21 km event aid stations at 3.5 km, 7.3 km, 10.3 km, 13.3 km and 17.8 km supply water and PURE electrolyte hydration at some stations. The 10 km course has aid at 3.5 km and 6.7 km; the 5 km course has water at the finish line.
Registration and late entries take place at the Rhododendron Lawn, Hamilton Gardens. Late entries incur a $20 fee; EFTPOS is not available so cash or online banking is required. Entries can be transferred up until the Thursday of event week at midnight and cannot be deferred for more than 12 months.
All finishers in the 21 km, 10 km and 5 km receive a finishers medal. Medals are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each age group for the 21 km and 10 km, and to the top 5 men and women overall in the 5 km. Awards and the major spot prize presentation are held at 12noon in front of the stage. A major spot prize is an economy ticket to Rarotonga staying at the Edgewater Resort, subject to availability; winners must be present at the awards to be eligible. A bag check service is available with collection by 1:00pm; unclaimed items are retained for 10 days then donated. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
