About the race
The Hamilton Half Marathon is a community running event based at Hamilton Gardens on the banks of the Waikato River. The course follows riverside and park trails, and uses sections of the Te Awa River Ride trail, combining sealed roads and smooth paved surfaces with some small undulations.
Distances offered:
- 21 km half marathon
- 10 km
- 5 km
Aid stations are placed along the courses and provide water; selected stations also supply an electrolyte hydration drink. Toilets are available at the start and finish area and at points around the course. Finishers in all distances receive a medal; additional medals are awarded by age group for the 21 km and 10 km and to the top five men and women overall in the 5 km. Timing uses mats at the finish line and results are published by age group based on mat time.
Event services include on-site bag check at start and finish (unclaimed items are retained for collection for up to 10 days), late-entry options with an additional fee, and competitor and supporter parking within Hamilton Gardens. Course maps and GPX files are provided for each distance. The finish area includes local food trucks and a stage area where prize-giving and spot-prize draws take place.
