The King's Mile

The King's Mile is a specialist running event located in the heart of Canterbury. The course provides a rare opportunity to run through the city centre, starting at Green Court at The King's School on the Northside of the Cathedral Precincts. The route takes participants through the King's Mile, past the Marlowe Theatre, and through the city centre before finishing within the grounds of Canterbury Cathedral.

The event features three distinct waves to accommodate different participants:

  • Elite Mile
  • Mass Running Mile
  • Mass Participation Mile (includes walking option)

The course is described as a flat route. All participants are tracked using chip timing technology, with results provided via a live feed. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, as well as the first male and female in the VET40, VET50, and VET60 categories.

The event village at Green Court includes stalls and refreshments for post-race relaxation. While toilets are available at the venue, there are no changing facilities on-site. Local car parks are situated nearby for a fee. Participation in the event also contributes to the support of two local charities. Advanced registration is available at a reduced rate for affiliated club members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
