The King's Mile in Canterbury
The King's Mile is a city centre running event in Canterbury that follows a one mile route. The course starts at Green Court at The King's School on the north side of the Cathedral precincts, passes the Marlowe Theatre and city centre, and finishes inside the grounds of Canterbury Cathedral with the cathedral as the backdrop to the finish area.
The event is organised in three main waves: an elite wave, a mass running mile, and a mass participation mile. The participation wave includes an option to walk the mile with family and friends. Each entrant must hold a valid entry.
Timing uses chip technology and results are provided as a live feed on the organiser's website. Prizes are awarded for first, second and third male and female overall, and for first male and female in VET40, VET50 and VET60 categories. Entry proceeds support two local charities to be announced.
Facilities at the venue include toilets and on-site refreshments. There are no changing facilities at this location. Car parks are available nearby and are payable locally. Advanced entry fees are listed at £10 for affiliated club members and £12 for unaffiliated entrants; on-the-day entry may be available subject to space at £15. Advanced entries are accepted until 1pm on the Wednesday before the event, subject to availability. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
