The Kingdom of Northumbria Coastal Ultra 2027
The Kingdom of Northumbria Coastal Ultra is a trail running event held along the Northumberland coastline. The course follows a point-to-point (A-B) format, with participants finishing at Druridge Bay Country Park. The route passes several coastal landmarks, including Beadnell Harbour, Dunstanburgh Castle, Craster Village, and Warkworth Castle.
Available distances include:
- 54 km Ultra Trail Run
- 27 km Trail Run
The 54 km event starts at the Links Road car park in Bamburgh, while the 27 km event begins at the Boulmer Lifeboat Station. Runners can book a pre-race shuttle bus that transports participants from the finish line at Druridge Bay to their respective start lines before the race begins. There is no shuttle service provided after the event.
For safety, there is a mandatory kit list. Runners are required to carry a backpack containing water or fluids, food or gels, a lightweight jacket, and a charged mobile phone with emergency contact information. A headtorch is also necessary for those finishing after 4:30 pm. All participants are subject to a strict course cut-off time of 6:00 pm.
The event features live chip timing and several aid stations. Feed stations for the 54 km route are located at Low Newton, Boulmer, and Warkworth Beach, while the 27 km route includes a station at Warkworth Beach. A bag drop service is available at registration, with bags transported to the finish line. All finishers receive a medal, an exclusive t-shirt, and snacks.
