The Kauai Marathon & Half Marathon

The Kauai Marathon & Half Marathon is a race event on Kaua‘i that includes full marathon, half marathon and a Keiki Run. The event features an expo and race activities and maintains course support with supplies reported for race day, including 9,500 pounds of ice and 1,600 gallons of water.

The event reports age ranges for finishers and community impact figures. Finishers have included marathon runners as young as 16 and as old as 78, and half marathon runners as young as 8 and as old as 94. The Kauai Marathon Youth Running Program and Keiki races have reached 2,390 children over 13 years. Over 17 years the event’s reported economic impact to the island exceeds $56 million, and more than $350,000 has been distributed to Kauai non profit groups.

The race takes place on Kaua‘i, known as The Garden Island. Local context noted on the island includes navigable rivers, Waimea Canyon commonly called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, and the presence of the National Tropical Botanical Garden headquarters and a large collection of Native Hawaiian plants.
