The Iron Horse Half Marathon, 12k & 5k
The Iron Horse event takes place in Midway, KY on October 11, 2026. It includes the 17th annual half marathon, the 10th annual 12k, and the 2nd 5k. The event is presented by John's Run/Walk Shop and occurs in conjunction with the Midway Fall Festival. Proceeds benefit Cops for Kids, the Midway Ministerial Association, and Special Olympics Kentucky. Virtual race options are offered for each distance.

Race amenities listed by the organizer include a technical running shirt with custom Iron Horse artwork, a poster by local artist Cricket Press, personalized bibs, age group awards, free unlimited downloading of race photos, a custom 13.1 and 12k sticker for participants, and a large finisher medal.
Pre race deadlines are specified for bib transfers and event transfers on September 28, for switching to virtual events on October 4, and for 2027 deferrals on October 9. Packet pick up is available at John's Run/Walk Shop locations: Monday October 5 and Tuesday October 6 at Palomar, and Wednesday October 7 through Saturday October 10 at 317 S. Ashland Ave. Day of pick up will not be available. Packet shipping is offered with a mailing deadline to ensure delivery before the race. A course map is provided by the organizer.
