The ICE Breaker Triathlon
The ICE Breaker Triathlon is held at Granite Beach in Folsom Lake State Recreation Area. The event includes multiple race formats that use the lake for the swim, roads closed to traffic for the bike course, and run routes that follow the shoreline of Folsom Lake. Expected water temperature is 54 to 62 degrees Fahrenheit; wetsuits are recommended. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed.
Aid stations are provided in the transition area and on the run course, offering cold water, CLIF Gel Shots, and an electrolyte beverage. The transition area is first-come, with reserved bike racks for triathlon clubs; it is for athletes only. Body marking is performed at the transition entrance and athletes receive race numbers on legs and arms and an age division marking on the calf. Glass and bottles are not allowed in the transition area.
Equipment and conduct rules note that helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike, run numbers must be worn on the run and at the finish, and listening devices are not permitted. Packet pickup takes place on race morning at the race site.
